This Christmas, you’re invited on an enchanting festive lantern and light experience at Hampton Court Palace with brand new, bold displays through an extended route for 2022.
This year’s light trail is bigger and better than ever before, with more elaborate installations and dramatic displays, taking a route through the wilderness, formal gardens and palace that’s double the length of 2021. There will also be an expanded fantastic food and drink offer from street food pioneers, KERB.
Encounter curious creatures, from glittering unicorns to polka-dot panthers and from lurking lions to galloping greyhounds, as you wander through the atmospheric gardens and historic palace courtyards after dark.
These captivating luminous and dramatic displays are created by a skilled team of artists and craftspeople, and are inspired by the Royal Beasts, a collection of heraldic statues commissioned for Hampton Court by Henry VIII himself. Palace of Light is a chance to experience this unique historic palace like never before.
Enjoy the experience at a leisurely pace, allowing around 45 – 60 minutes to soak up the atmosphere and take in the displays.
Come hungry! Street food trailblazers, KERB, are bringing a bar and four tasty tradersto the light trail so you can grab a bite halfway round – expect juicy burgers from Gamekeeper, triple fried chicken from Only Jerkin’, planet-friendly pizza from Well Kneaded and ‘Halloumi bite’ with authentic Greek eats. And if you can’t wait that long, you’ll be able to grab hot and cold drinks soon after the start of the trail.
To truly make a day of it, you can also purchase a light trail and palace admission combi-ticket to enjoy a day at Hampton Court Palace before exploring Palace of Light after dark.
