2022 will also mark 25 years since Cirque du Soleil first brought their captivating magic to Royal Albert Hall’s stage, with now over 3.5 Million spectators witnessing the awe-inspiring acrobatics. And it’s no different this time around.
LUZIA, this year’s awakening dream of Mexico, will showcase Cirque du Soleil’s jaw-dropping virtuosity and mesmerising acrobatics in a visually beautiful production.
Beginning January 12, the show will transport viewers to an imaginary Mexico — a lavish world that exists between fantasy and reality, complete with classic movie sets, a parched desert, and a smokey dance hall. It’s also the most technically challenging show ever performed on the hall’s stage, combining classic and contemporary circus to new heights.
Cyr wheel artists roll and spin under the rain while an aerialist suspended from a Trapeze flies and twirls through pouring showers. Hoop diving is now done on massive treadmills, which increases the pace and number of leaps performed tremendously. A contortionist twists into impossible positions, an aerial straps specialist defies gravity, a juggler tosses seven pins at breakneck speed, and two football freestylers deftly merge street dancing with ball handling are among the performers in the programme.
