Overview of Art in the Park
Art in the Park has been created by a dedicated volunteer team of local artists from The Friends of Cannizaro Park, with support from Award-winning ocean and river cruise company Viking. This event is a continuation of a rich history of art exhibits in the park’s stunning scenery. It is being done in collaboration with The Merton Arts Festival, the park’s ACAVA artists’ studios, and the Wimbledon BookFest Sunset Festival, which takes place on the same weekend.
Adults visiting Cannizaro’s Art in the Park can take part in a variety of artistic activities, including botanical painting, Japanese woodblock printmaking, Plein-air painting, and tree sketching in the Hartley Fowler Adult Masterclasses tent.

They’re also giving younger guests the opportunity to try their hand at something creative! Younger guests can experiment with different animation methods, storytelling, and craft, as well as printing drawings inspired by famous local designer William Morris, in the special EQ Investors’ Children’s Workshop Tent.
Despite the fact that Art in the Park is just for one day, people will be encouraged to participate in something that will last much longer. Local Artists Tim Norris in partnership with Viking will invite visitors to participate in the creation of a community sculpture.
So, during the day, you may be invited to contribute to the creation of a magnificent community sculpture, so be prepared for Tim to call you up to add your piece! Under his supervision of course.
A range of local artists will be showcasing their talent, in painting, printing, ceramics, and jewellery-making to the backdrop of the gorgeous Italian Gardens of Cannizaro Park. You have to ask yourself, what could be more artistically inspiring!?
Art in the Park is aimed at amateur art lovers, aspiring artists, families, and those who just like or are interested in art! It promises to be a jam-packed day of activities, inspiration, and individual creativity. Visitors have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to participate in something that will improve a community by utilising their unique talents. Art in the Park is shaping up to be a colourful day for everyone and we hope to see you there!
