In his own interpretation of Charles Dickens’ classic winter ghost storey, Mark Gatiss leads an ensemble cast, complete with Dickensian, spine-tingling special effects. As you enter the spooky Victorian world of A Christmas Carol, be prepared to be terrified and enthralled in equal measure.
For many people, A Christmas Carol is a favourite story. It’s an incredibly moving story about life, love, loss, and redemption that’s still relevant today. But, at its heart, it’s a ghost story, and the new version will focus on that. On a cold winter’s night, a dangerous, exhilarating, and joyful experience to get the pulse pumping. A Victorian phantasmagoria, to be sure!
On a chilly Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge receives an unexpected visit from the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley.
Suddenly, an unearthly apparition, bound in chains as punishment for a lifetime of greed, reveals that it isn’t too late for Scrooge to change his ways of misery and greed. But he must first endure three more terrifying visits.
The production will premiere at Nottingham Playhouse, directed by Adam Penford. The production will feature at Alexandra Palace over the holidays – be sure to check it out.
