Places in London That Inspired Anime

What if we propose to you to give it a touristic spin on London? For Anime Fan Lovers.

In the iVisit Team, we are massive Anime fans, and if you’re reading this, then you are likely a fan of anime too. But, what many might not know or forget is that a lot of Anime take inspiration from the real world – which is why the iVisit team wanted to put together a list for tourists that also love Anime, so without further adue let’s begin.

As you can see in this image, the resemblance is pretty striking. Clearly, our Japanese friends love one of our city most well known landmarks – they even got the big ben on the side.

Azur Lane HMS Belfast & The HMS Belfast

Some Animes take inspiration a little further by not only replicating real world places, but by bringing those real world landmarks to life, like the World War 2 Warship HMS Belfast. One of our most beloved landmarks, which this year has its 50th anniversary since it arrived in the city, has also been immortalised as an Anime character who will kick ass to protect humanity on the seas. The name of this character is no other than HMS Belfast – isn’t she cute?

Kiniro Mosaic: Picadilly Circus

Paddington Station, The Houses of Parlament and Big Ben aren’t the only places to be brought to the animated world. Even black cabs have also made an appearance, but what stands out to us is this recreation of Picadilly Circus from Kiniro Mosaic – they even included the statue of Anteros.

Emma, a Victorian Romance: St. Pauls Cathedral

There are a lot of places in London and the entire world that has been immortalised in animated form. The Anime Emma, a Victorian Romance takes a lot of inspiration from London in the Victorian era – like this perfect recreation of St. Pauls Cathedral.

We will be back, with more places in London that have been recreated in anime so be sure to come back. If you know of any locations that you think should be included in this list, please be free to contact us on social media.
