John Boyega to be immortalised at Madame Tussauds London
The force is strong with Madame Tussauds London today as it announces actor and producer, John Boyega, will be the latest star to be immortalised at the world-famous attraction.
The announcement is the ultimate 30th birthday gift for the Peckham born Golden Globe Award winning actor who rose to prominence for his roles in iconic films including Small Axe, the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and upcoming projects 892, The Woman King and They Cloned Tyrone, to name but a few.
Boyega took time out of his busy schedule to attend a sitting in September 2021 with Madame Tussauds London’s artists where hundreds of precise measurements and reference photographs were taken. The Baker Street attraction has provided fans a glimpse behind the scenes of this process by releasing images and video from the sitting as part of today’s announcement.
On being immortalised at the attraction, John Boyega said: “Madame Tussauds London is a place that I’ve always heard about since I was a kid, it is part of our culture; it represents our country and the individuals in our country, the best way and it’s fun. So, you know, I’m down with that.
“When I first got the call that Madame Tussauds London wanted to come in and make a figure of this mug, I was shocked, surprised and at the same time very, very, excited. It feels very good to be counted amongst those very special people. It’s kind of crazy. Kind of cool. And surreal.”
The BAFTA award winner will be taking up permanent residence in the Baker Street attraction this summer, where he will join fellow stars Dwayne Johnson, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Benedict Cumberbatch, Nicole Kidman and Tom Hardy, to name but a few, in Madame Tussauds London’s Awards Party zone.
Fans should keep an eye on Madame Tussauds London’s social channels for more news on John Boyega’s arrival this summer.
