For more than 10 years, Leavesden was home to the Harry Potter film series. Because the novels were still being published at the time the movies were being made, the production team preserved many of the famous sets, props, and costumes designed specifically for the movies in case they were needed later in the series.

When filming on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 finished in 2010, the crew was left with a treasure trove of hundreds of intricate and wonderfully crafted items, many of which would not have been kept on a regular set.

The creators of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter intended to conserve and display these famous items, costumes, and sets so that Harry Potter fans may witness the magic of filmmaking firsthand. The Studio Tour opened its doors on March 31, 2012, with most of the former cast and crew returning to rebuild the sets and document their experiences from production.

The Studio Tour, which is located next to the active film studios where all eight Harry Potter movies were shot, allows guests to see two sound stages and a backlot packed with authentic sets, animatronic animals, and spectacular special effects.
