Originally opened in 1881 to house Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic operas, the Savoy Theatre has maintained its reputation for hosting major British theatre debuts, including Oscar Wilde’s Salome and Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit.
In 1990 the Savoy suffered significant fire damage, but was refurbished and reopened in 1993 with an interior that mirrors its classic 1929 design but features modern conveniences.
The Savoy Theatre has been the home of some of the biggest musicals on the West End, including Legally Blonde, Gypsie, Funny Girl and Dreamgirls.
