Discover Children’s Story Centre is the UK’s first hands-on creative literacy centre for children aged 0-11 years and their families, carers and teachers. At the heart of the centre, our purpose-built Story World and Story Garden are creative play spaces designed to inspire children’s curiosity and imagination. Their dedicated Story Builders tell tall tales and help visitors create their own stories for Hootah, their resident baby space alien, to send back to his planet Squiggly Diggly, which has run out of imagination.
Changing once every six months to a year, their interactive exhibitions immerse families in the world of their favourite authors, from Oliver Jeffers to Julia Donaldson and Judith Kerr. Throughout the year they invite much-loved and up-and-coming authors, illustrators, poets, musicians, artists and storytellers to run exciting workshops.
They want to help improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills for children in a fun and imaginative ways. Each year over 100,000 people benefit from our programmes. Discover is a registered charity, all proceeds go directly into delivering high-quality innovative work for children and families in east London.
