The Crystal Maze Live Experience Launches Summer School For Future Thespians

Crystal Camp launched following research found kids confidence is at an all time low after COVID.
  • New weeklong ‘Crystal Camp’ launched in response to more than three quarters (77 percent) of British parents claiming that their kids have lost confidence due to Covid
  • To launch, mini versions of former Maze Masters have been snapped in the London Maze.

This August will see the launch of the Crystal Maze LIVE Experience’s Summer school, Crystal Camp, in response to more than three quarters (77 percent) of parents saying that their children have lost confidence due to upheaval of the pandemic.

The Crystal Camp will be run for children aged 9-16 years at both the London and Manchester attractions and will teach budding thespians the Maze’s theatrical ropes.

The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience is recruiting kids to become mini Maze Masters this Summer Holiday. Stepping into the shoes of former hosts of the Iconic TV Show including Richard O’Brien, Ed Tudor-Pole and Richard Ayoade, children posed in front of the Iconic Crystal Dome.

The research, conducted by the Crystal Maze LIVE Experience*, also found that 57 percent of parents said their children were nervous in new places, with just over half of parents (52 percent) agreeing that their kids were shy with strangers. Additional findings found that a third (34 percent) of children avoid public speaking and 27 percent are unusually quiet off the back of Covid, according to their parents.

In response to the worrying findings, the Crystal Camp, which will be run by the Crystal Maze’s Maze Masters, aims to help rebuild kids’ confidence in a fun and meaningful way by teaching them everything there is to know about the art of performance through acting workshops, costume design sessions and comedy training.

To mark this Crystal Maze LIVE Experience first, mini versions of its former Maze Masters – Richard O’Brien, Ed Tudor Pole and Richard Ayoade – have been snapped in the Crystal Dome and other Maze locations.

In an immersive attraction first, the Maze Masters will be on hand to guide the mini actors using their professional theatrical backgrounds to mentor and guide budding stars. The workshop will culminate in a show for family and friends at the end of the week.

The fun-filled Crystal Camp will see promising actors learn the inner workings of The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience, play the exciting games and get a sneak peek into the operations of one of the UK’s top immersive attractions.

Tom Lionetti-Maguire, CEO & Founder of Little Lion Entertainment Limited, said: “Our research found that almost half (46 percent) of parents believe that summer camps will play a vital role in rebuilding their kids’ confidence in the aftermath of the pandemic. As a result, we’ve designed a summer camp with a difference – a programme that allows children to express themselves, dress up, run around, socialise, interact, problem solve and learn new skills.

Whilst the Crystal Camp is being led by our world-famous Maze Masters, it’s not just kids with an interest in theatrics that will benefit from this unique experience – any child that has lost confidence due to the pandemic are welcome. We cannot wait for youngsters to join us this summer and enjoy an incredible week of fun with our dedicated Maze Masters at our Crystal Camp.”
