What is St Patrick’s Day?

Every year on 17th March, Ireland celebrates its foremost patron saint, St. Patrick, with a national holiday and traditional feast. And although it’s not a public holiday in England, London celebrates St. Patrick’s day with lots of spectacular events, including the annual parade which is hosted every March 13th.

St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival

For guaranteed fun and rowdiness, follow the St Patrick’s Day Parade (complete with floats, marching bands, and colourful showmanship). This year’s festival line-up includes a boatload of live music and free entertainment. There are games, arts and crafts as well as walkabout performances. The route is scheduled to start at Hyde Park Corner, passing through Piccadilly around midday. This massive parade passes many iconic London sights before ending at Trafalgar Square and features a great line-up of Irish bands, culture, and celebrities.
